Shoe Art: Vanesa Yang's Runway Shoes

| Quote | As a budding shoe designer & a dedicated fashionista Vanesa Susanto from Australia is always thinking about shoes. As a blogger for leading fashion sites The-Bel  and trendy Lookbook.nu she is always writing about shoes. And so, a natural next step would be to design her own shoe range by the name of Vanesa Yang. Her motto: " Each step you take is your runway, and you deserve beautiful shoes to walk it."  We couldn't agree more with her!

This week's Shoe Closet art: Louboutin's Rom booties

Christian Louboutin states that 'There is an element of seduction in shoes that doesn't exist for men. A woman can be sexy, charming, witty or shy with her shoes. Shoes for men are about elegance or wealth, they are not playing with the inner character. That is why women are happy to wear painful shoes.' Would love to find out what the guys think of these profound words....

This week we have chosen 1 of the more colourful shoes of this season by Marni. Delicate orange and nude on a bed of chocolate & it's a Mary Jane. Finished of with a lace to tie the shoe around your foot. If art teachers were chic and rich, they’d probably wear Marni.

Cristóbal Balenciaga himself, admired by his fellow couturiers for his craftmanship & eye for design. The shoe is 'Glove' a very understated but o so beautiful design. Shoe Art: Nicholas Kirkwood

This week we are putting the spotlight on Nicholas Kirkwood and his wonderful collection. The a/w 2011-2012 collection has a total of 118 models, and each & every one of them is gorgeous and special. I guess you could easily become addicted to his shoes! His shoes are hugely popular and stocked by some special shops like Browns, the exquisite shop from London, which has an excellent selection. So has the italian super shop LuisaviaRoma.com. You can find a big selection of his shoes at MyTheresa.com. Nicholas Kirkwood was born in 1980 in Germany, where his father was stationed with the UK army. He studied fine arts at Central Saint Martins and briefly studied at Cordwainers. Working with renowned hatmaker ( of Royal Wedding Beatrice fame!) Philip Treacy helped Kirkwood realise his career aim. To replicate in shoes what Treacy did for hats: make artistically creative statement pieces. Rejecting ornamental decoration in favour of sculptural glamour, Kirkwood has not only triumphed with his own namesake line but has made collaborative collections with the likes of Rodarte, Erdem and Peter Pilotto.

Shoe Art: Skate Moss booties from Dsquared2 a/w 2011-2012 collection

This week's iPad art is a tribute to wit, good fun & clever design that is the trademark of Dsquared2. These boots are called Skate Moss and created a lot of buzz when they first appeared on the catwalk. Seemingly impossible to walk on ( check out how they manage it here in this video) but immensely charming. You can buy them at the uber-shop LuisaViaRoma.com.
